Bainland Lodge Retreats has unveiled its brand new luxury spa, a thoughtfully designed wellness destination that elevates the guest experience and reinforces the retreat’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading countryside escapes.
Designed and delivered by APSS, the project brings together contemporary design, natural materiality, and high-quality craftsmanship to create a calm, immersive environment inspired by the surrounding woodland landscape. The new spa introduces a refined and cohesive space where guests can relax, unwind, and reconnect, with interiors carefully curated to reflect Bainland’s premium positioning while enhancing its connection to nature.
A Design Rooted in Nature
At the heart of the project is a design concept informed by biophilic principles, drawing influence from the textures, tones, and tranquillity of the forest setting. Natural materials, layered lighting, and soft spatial transitions work together to create a seamless guest journey, from arrival through to relaxation. The result is a space that feels intuitive, calming, and distinctly high-end, with each zone flowing effortlessly into the next.
Built Around Experience
The layout has been carefully considered to balance openness with privacy, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience throughout the spa. Thoughtful spatial planning minimises noise and enhances comfort, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the environment. Bespoke joinery and tailored detailing are integrated throughout, from reception areas to treatment rooms, delivering a cohesive and elevated finish that avoids off-the-shelf solutions in favour of something truly unique.
Material selection played a key role in achieving both aesthetic impact and long-term performance. Warm timber tones, durable stone surfaces, and tactile finishes were specified to withstand the demands of a spa environment while maintaining a luxurious feel.
