Commercial interior fit out firm APSS has appointed a new Joinery Workshop Manager to manage the interface between its interior design and joinery departments, increasing efficiency and improving delivery.
James Brett has joined the team with a decade of experience in the joinery industry. He started his career as an apprentice for Cathedral Joinery at 18, working on the bench and progressing to a point where he gained his qualifications, including an NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery. He also has a level 3 2D CAD and became self-employed at the age of 24.
He left Cathedral to join Gatton Joinery as a joinery designer and managing incoming work for the company. James specialises in CNC design and programming.
Previously, he has carried out work for companies such as Jigsaw, Macdonald’s, Gant, Under Armour, Wimbledon and Mercedes.
James said: “I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in, honing my skills to the business needs of APSS. The job offers a natural progression within my career and I’m excited about the new challenges it will bring.”
Miles Thomas, Operations Director for APSS, said: “James has proven that he has a lot of talent when it comes to organisation and will enable a more streamlined approach to the communication between our interior design element and our joinery workshop.
“We’re thrilled that James has joined the team and look forward to the new opportunities this will bring the business.”
