APSS helps transform Slimming World HQ

Created on: 22nd November 2019

National weight-loss organisation, Slimming World, has undergone fit out and extension works at the offices and warehouses at its HQ in Alfreton.

Lincolnshire-based commercial interior fit out and construction firm, APSS, refurbished and stripped out two warehouses and associated office space at the company’s head office, which brought the two current distribution warehouses under one roof.

Works included internal extensions of a single-storey office block and a refurbishment of the whole office building.

APSS worked closely with Slimming World throughout the design process, ensuring all needs and requirements were met to the highest standards and incorporating the well-known identity of Slimming World’s brand.

New electrics, plumbing and kitchen and bathroom facilities have all been installed. APSS’s in-house joinery team, based out of the firm’s head office in Kingsley Road, Lincoln, designed and created bespoke fitted cupboards for the new print room in addition to lockers, panelling systems, vanity units and cubicles for the washrooms.

APSS also introduced a new air conditioning and ventilation system, fire alarm system, and supplied new, modern furniture for the team member canteen area. For the finishing touch, the exterior of the PVCU windows were refinished grey, to complement the new colour scheme of the building.

A new indoor ramp was installed to enable forklift trucks and pedestrians to pass between warehouses on different levels, increasing the efficiency of the facility and removing the need for workers to brave the elements of the British weather.

The lighting levels in both warehouses were improved and made more energy efficient by the introduction of PIR controlled LED lighting. More natural light was also introduced to the warehouse through the replacement of a roller shutter with a large glazed panel.

The recently completed fit out is just the latest project that APSS has undertaken with Slimming World – with an established partnership spanning over two years. Over this period, an array of successful developments has been accomplished, including the refurbishment of the brand’s reception area, office space and bathroom facilities at the head office.

Mark Wagstaff, Project Manager for APSS, said: “We are delighted to have recently completed the latest project for Slimming World, which will provide new, modern office space for its many team members, therefore boosting moral and comradery. This is as well as two improved warehouses, with improved facilities for increased efficiency and distribution.

“Here at APSS, we have built a loyal and strong relationship with Slimming World and enjoy working on all aspects of the projects.”

Paul James, Facilities Manager at Slimming World, says: “It’s been great to continue our working partnership with APSS and we’re really pleased with all the developments that have been made to our warehouse and main building.

“Our head office is important because it’s home to our dedicated teams who work exceptionally hard to support our self-employed consultants who, in turn, ensure our members receive the very best service – and that all starts here in Derbyshire.

“People have always been at the heart of Slimming World’s success and so ensuring that our people – our head office staff and consultants – have the facilities and environment they need to do the best job possible will always be a real priority for us.”
